Porcelain Onlays NYC or Porcelain Inlays - New York City

At times a restoration is slightly too large for a filling to be placed but too small for a porcelain crown to be necessary.  Porcelain onlays can match the color of the tooth exactly, are very durable and conserve the natural tooth structure.  Having our own esthetic lab on premises allows us to do the procedure in a relatively short period of time.

Steps of a Porcelain Onlay Procedure:

    1. The tooth is prepared and cleaned as it is for a filling.
    2. A precise impression is taken which is given to our in-house lab.
    3. The technician and doctor consult on the shade of the tooth.
    4. The onlay is carefully fabricated.
    5. The onlay is bonded into place.

There is no substitute for knowledge and experience.  A well trained dentist who has seen patients for many years will know whether to guide a patient toward a filling, onlay or a crown for the restoration that will serve a patient the best.

I have been a patient of Dr. Schwartz for over 22 years.  I am Vice President of a large company in the garment industry.  The industry can be very hectic at times and it is sometimes hard to even take the time for a necessary dental appointment because I tend to put my business and company first.  I have had a crown and a three-tooth bridge done by Dr. Schwartz which has lasted me over 20 years.  I myself love to build and construct things in my own home and have always liked the way Dr. Schwartz is detail oriented and explains each procedure to me before beginning.

Recently I broke an upper right molar.  I was sure it would need a crown and possibly even a root canal since the tooth was very sensitive.  I was at a busy time during the market week and I was worried about how long a crown might take.  Dr. Schwartz did a conservative porcelain onlay on the tooth and from day 1 the tooth has not given me any trouble and I hardly missed any time from work.
